Brooks to Bays Nature Tours run from May 1st to October 15th to take full advantage of Vermont's beautiful natural areas in the best weather conditions of the year.
Watch Vermont's natural world change and thrive from season to season...Spring flowers, Summer songbirds, and sounds and colors of Autumn.
|
Lower Otter Creek - Ferrisburgh, Addison County
I grew up on this beautiful river, diverse with wildlife
and habitats.
The tour will take you down the river, into a calm lake bay,
and back up river for a great paddling experience. Listen to
the sounds of warblers, frogs, and
flycatchers along the river, and watch
kingfishers plunge for minnows.
Paddling Tour Locations The following are just a few waters we tour... Vermont has many great paddling areas we can explore
|
Dead Creek - Panton, Addison County (#1 Tour Spot)
Northeast Kingdom - lakes and ponds in Franklin
and Orleans Counties (exact tour location will vary)
Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge - Swanton,
Franklin County
Don’t let the name fool you! This place is very much alive!
Several miles of wildlife-rich river and marshland adjacent to
agricultural fields and woodlands. Beavers and muskrats
work the creek banks, while prehistoric- looking carp and gar
fish swim the shallows. Great Blue Herons patrol the
shoreline for a quick bite. But Bald Eagles are the stars here!
It's not called a Kingdom for nothing!
An area rich in spruce/fir forest and glacial lakes and ponds.
This is the place for the mournful calls of Common Loons,
and if you're lucky, you'll spot a lumbering moose along the
shore. Curious otters may even join the tour along the way.
Owls, migratory warblers, and rare Canadian bird species
often make an appearance.
This is where I worked as a conservation biologist and tour
guide!
Over 6,000 acres of U.S. Fish and Wildlife managed marshes,
rivers, lake, and woods on Lake Champlain's boundary with
Quebec, Canada. Witness osprey nesting and hunting for fish
with an aerial attack. Listen to the crazy calls of various
elusive marsh bird species. Watch white-tailed deer make
their way along the river.
