Jeremy Brooks
Well...first and foremost, I am a Vermonter.  I was born and
raised in the Champlain Valley.  I spent my youth exploring the
woods and waters around my home. In my nearing 30 years of
life, I have put hundreds of boating hours on Dead Creek, Otter
Creek, and Lake Champlain.  From an early age, I was taught
an environmental ethic that's based on the proper use and
appreciation of natural resources and wildlife.  I've also had a
love of wildlife and turned that love into a life-time of learning
as well as a career.

In 2000, I graduated from the University of Vermont with a
Bachelor's in Wildlife Biology.  I then spent 6 years working as
a
Conservation Biologist with Vermont Audubon and the
Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge
.  I take pride in my work
with threatened and endangered bird species - Osprey,
Common Terns, Black Terns, and others.  I even spent a
summer on an island near Martha's Vineyard managing a
wildlife sanctuary for endangered sea birds (that's why there's
a tern on my head!).

Along with conservation, I always spent time educating the
public in the outdoors; leading owl walks, nature camps, school
nature programs, and paddling tours in Missisquoi and on Otter
Creek.  My focus on education led me into the classroom,

where
I taught middle school science for two years.
I'm proud to be an advocate and educator for Vermont's
natural spaces, where I put my knowledge to work for your
enjoyment.  Thank you, and I look forward to taking you
around the natural world that is my
Vermont home.
